Yarn Review- Yarnspiration's Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn

Updated: Jun 26

Yarn Specs

Yarnspiration's Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn

Yarn Weight Bulky (5) Length 317 yds Fiber 72% Cotton 28% Nylon

Care Machine Wash and Dry

Pro- Affordable

One skein of this yarn is around $13, which may sound like a higher price for yarn but each skein has 317 yds. So not too bad. You can make The Klaus stocking with one skein, or $13 dollars (and your own manual labor of course).

Pro- No Pill

This tubular yarn just does not pill. Its not in its nature, and you know I love that. Knit pieces work up looking sleek and polished and crochet pieces work up looking kind of boho/ macrame style.

Pro- Crazy easy to work with

The yarn never splits and it slips really easily over your hook or needles. Also, its really easy to see all your stitches with this yarn because every stitch is extremely defined.

Con- Not versatile

Tubular yarn has a very specific look. So, it will be perfect for some pieces and not so great for others. I don't know how I would feel about a blanket made with this yarn, as there is very little drape or coziness in the texture it creates. But its great for structural pieces like STOCKINGS or baskets. I also really like how it worked up with my knit throw pillow cover. You can experiment with it and see what you like. In general, this yarn is not drapey but it is very sturdy and can create a cool boho macrame vibe. One of my favorite patterns (featured below) I've seen with this yarn is Debrosse's The Bassin- Bleu Wall Hanging.

Con- Not many color options There are 8 solid color options and 8 variegated color options and I don't really like any of them but cream. I know that is 100% subjective. To be a little more descriptive, the colors are right on the line between primary and earth toned. The variegated options spare no boldness.
