Crochet Box Stitch Tutorial + Video

crochet box stitch

The Crochet Box Stitch is a beautiful, intricate, and detailed pattern that creates a series of interlocking squares or boxes. To get started with this stitch pattern , we will crochet a chain of 10 +2. We will be using single crochets, double crochets, front post single crochets, and chain spaces. This stitch has a lengthy 8 row repeat, but its worth it! In a few places in this pattern, where you are placing your stitches can be a bit tricky. For example, sometimes we will be working our stitches 4 rows below. The Crochet Box Stitch Video Tutorial below should be helpful for that! Keep scrolling for the written Crochet Box Stitch Step by Step Pattern.

How Does The Crochet Box Stitch Work?

The crochet box stitch creates the the "box" or "squares" design with rows of double crochet clusters in chain spaces, rows of front post single crochets, and rows single crochets and double crochets with chain space to work future double crochet clusters (these are the boxes) into. Sometimes we will also be working 4 rows below to work our stitches and pin down the boxes with single crochets so they do not flop outwards.
